Top 10 Gym Hazards

1. Poor lighting: Most gyms are illuminated by LED lights, fluorescent bulbs, and flat-screen TVs, all of which emit harmful blue light. This blue light will increase blood sugar and insulin resistance, counteracting the positive benefits of exercising. To help protect your eyes and skin from the impact of artificial light while indoors, consider wearing blue-blocking glasses, full-length pants, and long-sleeve shirts.

2. Closed windows: Most gyms are enclosed with windows that alter the natural spectrum of sunlight. It's better to exercise next to an open window or find a gym that offers outdoor exercise options. Garage gyms are great because you can open the door to let full-spectrum sunlight inside.

3. Flicker Effect: Flicker occurs when artificial light sources blink on and off at a rapid pace, below your level of perception. Although
your eyes can't detect the flicker from artificial light, the flicker effect can cause brain distress, headaches, and vertigo.

4. Wi-Fi Radiation: Wi-Fi routers and wireless speakers are a major source of unseen pollution in fitness centers, and this will slow
mitochondria function and dehydrate your body. Treadmills now come equipped with Wi-Fi and the SunDiet™ philosophy does not view this type of technological progress as a positive development. A 2022 study published in the journal Antioxidants found that exposure to 5G electromagnetic radiation suppresses melanin production.

5. Electrical Pollution: Treadmill motors give off a significant amount of electric radiation. The faster the motor spins, the greater the level of unseen pollution is emitted. Instead, do your running outside. Any exercise machine that gets plugged in, has a digital screen, or has Wi-Fi, is not recommended.

6.No grounding: Since grounding isn't possible in a commercial gym, make sure to find another opportunity to ground during the day.

7. Popular workout times: While most people exercise in the morning or at night, this is not the best time to exercise. The best circadian time to exercise is between 2 to 5pm because this is when strength and physical performance naturally peaks.

8. Other People: Avoid crowded gyms because each person is contaminating you with various wireless devices. The most common are fitness trackers, headphones, smartphones, and smartwatches. Fortunately, most people exercise at the wrong time. This allows
Sun Dieters to exercise at the correct time while simultaneously avoiding crowds.

9. Water Fountains: Water fountains serve fluorinated municipal water, which should be avoided at all costs. While grounding provides free energy, fluoride steals energy (electrons) from your body. Instead, bring your own bottle of healthy water to the gym (see page 44 for options). A 2025 JAMA study linked fluoride exposure to lower IQ in children.

10. Processed Foods: The processed nutrition bars and energy drinks sold at gyms are not healthy and contain high amounts of deuterium (see page 70). Instead, eat a SunDiet™ meal or snack before going to the gym.
